Additional Resources
Here are some other things you can do today to mitigate the mosquito problem around your home. While they may not be the BuzzOFF solution, these tips may help until your certified mosquito professional is on-site at your house.

Habitat Elimination
During the inspection and evaluation of your property our BuzzOFF professional will be looking for areas that provide harborage for mosquitoes. You will receive a written report and recommendations on what should be done to eliminate such sites. In many cases our BuzzOff professional will be able to provide additional services to correct many issues. We will look for areas with poor grade or holes in trees, potted plant trays, clogged gutters, tarps, fire wood and other objects and environments with the capacity to hold water. You will also receive a report and advise regarding ground cover and foliage that may be contributing to your mosquito populations.

Larvicides
Larvicides are chemicals that can be applied to kill mosquito larvae, which is one of the four forms in a mosquito’s development. Adult mosquitoes lay eggs typically on stagnant water mosquito larvae will hatch from the eggs eventually turning into the pupae stage and ultimately into adults. As a rule the larvae will leave the egg within 48 hours and will stay in the larva stage from 7 to 14 days, the pupae stage will last about two days during which time they do not eat at this point the adult is formed and the female will be ready for a meal, a single female may bite its host several times before flying away.

When conditions warrant we recommend the use of larvicides, we are well versed on were and how to apply the many forms of larvicides which include liquid, granule, briquettes and dunks. The best time to apply them is from April through the end of September (temperature plays an important role in determining best times for application cycles) areas such as catch basins, ponds, lakes, roadside ditches and surface water receptacles. During the season monthly applications are recommended. We of course recommend eliminating as many water holding sites as possible.

Conventional Mosquito Control
Conventional mosquito control consists of recurring applications of liquid pesticides, granular pesticides in combination with larvicides and harborage control. Depending on the environment and time of year conventional applications will provide two to three weeks of reduced insect activity. When conditions exist we may incorporate conventional application with the misting system to achieve desired result. The chemicals used in these services are similar to the products used in the misting system. Our professional applicators will utilize a variety of application tools to include compressed air applicators, power truck mounted applicators, granule applicators or spreaders and dusters when appropriate. Applications are targeted in areas of dense vegetation, shade and other moist areas of your yard.

These services are available on a recurring monthly application during the season or as a one time application for special events.
